Video entry: don't trade it, upgrade it.
Consumer video doorbells are now cheap and easy to install in single family homes. But they don’t work so well in multi-tenant buildings like condos, apartments and commercial offices because all the residents have to share a system. For those buildings, Video-based door entry systems are generally reserved for the highest end properties due to their high purchase, installation and support costs.
Visible Access is now making this functionality available to any building that wants it, by offering the opportunity to upgrade existing phone-based systems instead of replacing them. Why rip and replace a perfectly functional system, just to get more features? Now, you don’t have to.

Enhance building security with advanced video entry
Legacy door entry systems, while incredibly reliable, are unable to provide many of the functions most residents desire and expect.

Modern security without the hassle
If your building lacks modern entry features, it may seem outdated to buyers and tenants, lowering property value. While upgrading to a flashy new system with a large LCD screen is an option, it comes with high costs and is really attractive to vandals.
Visible Access offers a smarter solution—an affordable, discreet adapter that enhances your existing system with a camera and wireless connectivity. In some cases, it even fits inside your current setup with minimal changes. No expensive remodeling, no wall repairs—just a seamless upgrade for better security and convenience.

Seamless video upgrades:

No wall repairs, no extra costs
Avoid costly wall repairs and repainting. Our solution installs cleanly without damaging your building’s aesthetics.
Keep your existing directory
No need to re-enter names and phone numbers—our system works with your current directory for a hassle-free upgrade.
Built to last, more secure

Our products
Video door entry - DEC series
Upgrades phone-based entry systems to video without replacement. Residents see visitors via a free app. Discreet, weather-resistant, and cost-effective with high-end features.
- Live video of visitors on smartphone app
- Unique guest entry passes
- Self-entry via app
- Remote programming
- 4G and/or broadband connectivity
Buildings without these features look out of date to prospective buyers
and tenants. Quite simply, that hurts property value, whether condo (commercial or residential), co-op or apartment
POTS Line Replacement – PRM Series
For those buildings that are not interested in adding video at this time, but still want to replace the old POTS line (due to degradation or increased pricing from the phone company) with a 4G connection, the PRM Series module and service is ideal.
Like the DEC Series, the PRM works with nearly any existing telephone-based door entry system and does not require the existing system to be replaced.
It has a very low price point and maintains its discrete look and feel. In some cases, the device may be located in the phone room, making it completely invisible to tenants and visitors alike.
Lobby Cam – LCM Series
The LCM series is a cost-effective camera and service designed for condos, apartments, and office buildings. It can be mounted wherever power is available and comes in WiFi or 4G versions, independent of door entry systems.
The camera streams video directly to the Visible Access App, available to permissioned residents 24/7. To prevent misuse, it provides video in 30-second increments (adjustable), requiring manual refresh for continued viewing. This solution is perfect for buildings that previously used cable services for lobby cameras but are facing service gaps as cable companies move to digital/fiber infrastructure.

How video entry systems enhance security
A brief history of visible access
The idea for Visible Access started early in the pandemic when many people were having food and packages delivered. All kinds of delivery people were coming by and getting buzzed into apartment buildings unsupervised. They would drop the package at the tenants door and then were free to roam the halls. Nobody really laid eyes on them. As can be expected, some of them weren’t delivery drivers at all. They were there for nefarious reasons. According to the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC): “Apartments have an 85 percent higher chance of being burglarized than single-family homes”. The threat is real and it is getting worse. Ask any insurance agent the best way to lower the number of burglaries in apartment buildings? They will all tell you, “be careful who you let into the building”. What is the best way to do that? “Add video cameras to your door entry system.”
In single family homes, the solution is to install a simple doorbell camera. They have become incredibly popular. Currently more than 20 million homes in the US have one installed. But it’s not so simple in an apartment environment. Doorbell cameras are designed to ring one subscriber’s app. How do you handle a building where there are lots of different tenants? It turns out there are some very expensive door entry systems with video built in. But apartment buildings generally already have a system installed. They don’t want to rip out a perfectly good system and spend $10K to put in a new one with video capabilities.
This is what motivated us to start Visible Access and develop a way to add video cameras to a door entry system without having to replace the door entry system. After doing some research, we uncovered some other issues with existing door entry systems.
- Most rely on old fashioned copper phone lines from the telephone company. Those are being phased out in almost every community in the US.
-
Some door entry systems can’t dial to phones outside the home area code. Well people keep their same cell
numbers when they relocate, so that is a problem. -
Many people are tired of carrying a key fob to get into their building. They always have their phone with them. Why
can’t they just use that like a key fob? -
What about guests or cleaning services? People are looking
for a way to give them access to the building without having to dial the tenant.
